Short answerAt ro, the Wegovy pill costs $149 for the first month and $299 a month after that, plus a membership of $39 for month one and $74-149 after; this is the only telehealth price we have verified. Novo Nordisk's direct-pay pricing is reported at $149 for the starting dose, rising to $299 for the maintenance dose. If commercial insurance covers Wegovy, the manufacturer's savings offer reportedly lowers the cost to as little as $25 a month, and on Medicare the GLP-1 Bridge pilot charges a flat $50 through December 2027. Every route needs a prescription.ro's prices come from its own published pricing, checked August 2026. Manufacturer prices come from the dated sources linked in this article and have not been verified by us.

Key points

  • The Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide 25 mg) received FDA approval in December 2025 as the first oral GLP-1 for chronic weight management. It needs a prescription, and its price depends on the route: telehealth, the manufacturer's direct-pay pharmacy, insurance or Medicare.
  • Verified telehealth price: ro charges $149 for the first month of the Wegovy pill, then $299 a month, plus its Body membership ($39 the first month, then $74-$149 a month). ro bills the medication separately, so insurance can pay where your plan covers Wegovy.
  • Third-party trackers report Novo Nordisk's direct-pay tiers at $149 a month for the starting dose, rising to $299 at the maintenance dose. We have not verified these ourselves; confirm with NovoCare before budgeting.
  • With commercial insurance that covers Wegovy, the manufacturer's savings offer reportedly brings the pill as low as $25 a month. On Medicare, the GLP-1 Bridge pilot charges a flat $50 copay through December 2027. Compounded semaglutide, a different product that is not FDA-approved, costs $49-$199 a month at verified prices.

How much is the Wegovy pill online?

The Wegovy pill costs between $25 and about $1,349 a month depending on the route, with $149 the first month and $299 after at ro. ro's price is the only figure in this table we verified ourselves, from its published pricing in August 2026. Manufacturer figures are as reported by the dated sources linked in the last column. Novo Nordisk sells direct through NovoCare Pharmacy, and trackers disagree on one of the middle tiers, so confirm your dose's price with NovoCare before committing.

Why does the Wegovy pill cost more after month 1?

Because the dose rises. The Wegovy pill is taken once a day, started at a low dose and increased over the first months to the 25 mg maintenance dose used in the trials.
  • The reported NovoCare tiers follow that ladder: the lowest price is for the starting dose, and $299 is for the dose you stay on.
  • ro's published structure shows the same pattern in two numbers, $149 for the first month and $299 after, with a membership added.
Year-one cost at ro's cash prices: roughly $4,300-$5,100 depending on membership tier, made up of $3,438 for medication plus $853-$1,678 for membership. Compare that figure with alternatives, not the $149. Our month 1 vs year one guide runs the same calculation for every provider we track.

Does insurance or Medicare cover the Wegovy pill?

Often, and for many people these routes matter most.
  • Commercial insurance. If your plan covers Wegovy for weight management, the manufacturer's savings offer reportedly lowers the copay to as little as $25 a month, capped at $100 in savings per 30-day supply, for commercially insured US adults. Anyone on a government plan is excluded. Coverage itself is the hurdle: many plans still exclude weight-management GLP-1s or require prior authorization, so check your formulary first with our insurance guide. ro's route suits this case because it bills the pill as its own line item that a plan can pay toward.
  • Medicare. Since July 1, 2026, the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge pilot has charged eligible beneficiaries a flat $50 copay for the Wegovy pill and injection, the Zepbound KwikPen and Foundayo, through December 31, 2027. The $50 does not rise with the dose. Eligibility depends on clinical criteria and an approval step through your Part D plan; GLP-1s after 65 lists what to ask.

Is the Wegovy pill cheaper than the Wegovy injection?

Not by much. At the maintenance dose, the two are priced closely on the telehealth route we verified.
  • ro: the Wegovy pen from $199 a month at introductory rates, then $299-$399 a month, against the pill's $149 then $299. The same membership applies to either.
  • NovoCare direct-pay: trackers report the injection at $349 a month, with a lower introductory price on early fills. This is reported, not verified by us.
So the choice is mostly not about price. In OASIS 4, the pill produced 13.6% mean weight loss at 64 weeks versus 2.2% on placebo in the analysis counting everyone randomized (16.6% among those who stayed on treatment), which the authors describe as similar to the weekly 2.4 mg injection in its own trial. The real difference is routine: a daily tablet on an empty stomach with a sip of water and a 30-minute wait before eating, versus one injection a week. GLP-1 pills vs injections compares them side by side.

Is GLP-1 Treatment Right for You?

GLP-1 medication is prescription-only: a licensed clinician has to decide it is appropriate, and it is not a fit for everyone. Side effects are possible, and they tend to show up in the first few weeks while your body adapts.

Results are usually best when the medication is paired with simple daily habits, such as balanced meals and regular movement.

For both safety and lasting progress, pick a provider that screens you properly before prescribing and keeps following up once treatment starts.

Is the Wegovy pill worth the price compared with compounded semaglutide?

They are different products, so compare value, not just price.
  • The Wegovy pill is Novo Nordisk's FDA-approved finished drug, backed by its own trial.
  • Compounded semaglutide is the same molecule made by a licensed 503A pharmacy for an individual prescription. It is a legal, regulated channel, but the FDA does not review its output product by product, it has no trials of its own, and it is almost always an injection rather than a tablet.
Verified compounded prices: $49 a month at welludr on a 12-month plan, $69 month to month at embody, $89 flat at altRx and $99 all-inclusive at Medvi, up to $199. At cash prices the first-year gap against the Wegovy pill is several thousand dollars. If insurance or Medicare applies, though, the brand pill at $25-$50 a month becomes the cheapest FDA-approved option on this site. The trade-offs are covered in compounded vs brand-name.

What is the cheapest way for you to get the Wegovy pill?

Pick the line that matches your situation:
  • Commercial insurance covers Wegovy: use the savings offer through a route that bills the medication separately, such as ro or your own pharmacy, and expect $25 a month if the reported terms hold.
  • On Medicare: ask your Part D plan about the GLP-1 Bridge before pricing anything else. A flat $50 beats every cash figure here.
  • Paying cash for the FDA-approved pill: compare ro's $149 then $299 plus membership with NovoCare's reported tiers for your dose, and get the month-2 price in writing before paying.
  • Paying cash, molecule matters more than label: compounded semaglutide from $49-$199 a month, with the caveats above.
  • Needle-averse and open to a different pill: Eli Lilly's Foundayo lists $149-$349 a month self-pay and has no food or water timing rules. Foundayo vs the Wegovy pill compares the two.

Wegovy pill price: the summary

In 2026, the Wegovy pill online costs $149 for the first month, then $299, plus membership at ro, the one figure here we verified. Novo Nordisk's direct-pay tiers are reported in the same $149-$299 range, the price can drop as low as $25 with commercial coverage, and it is $50 under Medicare's pilot.

Those last two change the decision most, so check coverage first. Every route needs a prescription, and a licensed clinician decides whether semaglutide is appropriate for you.
